Pondoro Game Lodge

Pondoro is set on the banks of the Olifants River inside the 40 000 ha Balule Nature Reserve, which is situated inside the greater Kruger National Park. There are no fences between Balule Nature Reserve and the Kruger National Park, which means all the animals can move freely between Balule and the Kruger National Park. Balule is a Big 5 game reserve.

In the early 1990’s the boundary fence between the Kruger and the adjacent private reserves namely, Timbavati, Sabi Sand, Klaserie, Umbabat and Manyaleti was removed to create the greater Kruger national park covering an area of 2.2 million hectares.
Conservationists have attempted to re-create ancient migration movements of wildlife from the foothills of the Lebombo Mountains in the east to the Drakensberg Mountains in the west.

Kruger Game Lodges: Jock Safari Lodge
The Kruger National Park is the primary destination in South Africa for many international tourists. Each year more than half a million visitors are registered.The park stretches from the Crocodile River in the south up to the Limpopo River, which is the international border in the north. Altogether it is 350 km long, 65 km wide and comprises an area of about 20,000 sq km. A web of roads of 1863 kilometres leads through the National Park, 697 km of them being tarred. For the visitor there are numerous differently equipped rest camps, most of them scenically positioned. Within the park boundaries, travel is only allowed between sunrise and sunset. After dark accommodation within Kruger will need to be in one of the fenced restcamps offered by SANParks, for which you are advised to book well in advance.
