The best time to travel to South Africa.
Travel to South Africa is flexible as the country has a year-round season because of the size of the country and the natural diversity. The summer months run from September to April and are generally hot and sunny with afternoon showers, which are welcomed for cooling things down.
The winter months are from around May through July and August. The majority of the country experiences dry winters with colder temperatures at higher altitudes. The east coast is mild and the sea very clear during winter, so this could be a good time to visit and is out of the local holiday season.
In the Eastern Cape andKwaZulu Natal it is the season for the Sardine run and the schools of Dolphins which follow. The Kruger National Park has less vegetation then, making it an ideal time for game viewing. Cape Town and its surrounding regions such as the Cape Winelands, Overberg and West Coast can experience cool and wet winters during coastal fronts, but has the highlight of the whale calving season for whale watching enthusiasts.
